Vanessa & Auke

edoorn2020-05-08T13:22:23+01:00

I love small, intimate winter weddings! The idea of people getting married in the cold and short, but cosy December days (at least, over here in the Netherlands) is always a nice contrast to our summer weddings! (which isn’t to say that, should you decide to fly me in to some tropical resort around Christmas time to photograph your wedding,I would object of course ;)).

Vanessa (from Mexico) and Auke (Dutch) decided to do exactly that with their closest ones. The prep, ceremony and photo session took place in Haarlem (which is only 20 minutes away from Amsterdam and a very good tip for a day trip, should you be staying in Amsterdam for a longer period); afterwards the whole party including the wedding photographer (that’s me, of course) drove to the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, where we boarded a boat for a great canal tour while enjoying the Amsterdam Light Festival! On the boat, there was time for cutting the cake, a bit of dancing and some hilarious speeches.

After we got back, we had a drink at the bar (and the kids got a 101 in making cocktails; alcohol free of course) after which my part in this day finished with a couple of final images on the stairs in the lobby. This was also the last wedding this year! Let’s see what 2017 brings to the table 🙂
